Top of Concerns?
Academic Freedom... is just, freedom.
James Tracy being fired. What does this represent?
A slippery slope getting greased for an avalanche? And whose fussing? Is this, one more, issue?
Obviously underlying all. Should we all, keep, keep, keeping this - at the top of concerns? I’m not suggesting there isn’t some web-based outrage but surely we need to read and hear so much more?
One possible debilitating dynamic is supporting those, and through inference, we... don’t. It’s a tough one. Yet, more-obvious primacy: Free speech is universal or not at all.
A good exercise is attempting to protect the voice we disagree with or dislike. Post and go public for that.
Perhaps we - well me - need to get more sorted on, what is or isn’t re freedom... to...

Reading Tom Lyon’s sneering assessment. If that means calling hundreds of nice people liars and frauds, oh well. You can’t let people talking about “facts” stand in the way of your truth. Which facts are they? A paragraph on some would have brought perspective. What’s missing, is the context. Is Tom saying the same measures are in place for his own, other, opinions and investigations? Of course not. Therefore, the argument doesn’t stand. If James Tracy has committed liable or incited hate - call the police? Otherwise, we could look back at who Tom has called a liar and who that might hurt?
Our 'reading-freedoms' are in view, our very senses and network, the ground we stand.
What can we do? What must we do?
