The One About the Fake US Embassy, the Turkish Mafia and Ghana
This has got to be one of the odder stories about at the moment. The US State Department reports that a 'fake US embassy' was detected and shut down in Ghana. It is claimed this scam was being run by Turkish/Ghanaian mafia ring and had been going for about a decade, was dealing in counterfeit visas and ID documents and was mostly targeting and exploiting people in Ghana or from neighbouring African countries.
How an operation like this was able to continue undetected for 10 years is anyone's guess, but Turkish 'mafia' involvement raises questions, particularly as Turkish intelligence has been implicated in involvement with jihadist groups and in trafficking weapons to militias in Nigeria. The suggestion that the fake embassy also had access to “fraudulently obtained, legitimate U.S. visas” also raises serious questions about what the nature of the operation was. I would personally also begin to raise questions about possible involvement in migrant trafficking operations, given that Turkish mafia traditionally also have a presence in Libya, via which so many African migrants are being channeled through to reach Europe (or to drown in the Mediterranean).

One of them is, how fake the fake embassy really was and whether or not it had ties to Turkish intelligence.

The fake embassy was reportedly operated by a “gang” of citizens from Ghana and Turkey where they flew the U.S. flag every Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 7:30amto 12 noon.
