Except Bach
Little interest in music by choice, except Bach.
St Matthews is 'all about the dance'. Or that's what the man at HMV told me, selling me one of his recommended versions.
This and – Bach – Cantatas could remind me of Easter but this tends to be oh so 'religious' which I don't relate to or the surrounding culture. Yet, playing along/play St Matthew all weekend, if anything, seems fitting. Gimmie something to write about here.
And the pagan-roots of the calendared event neither bother me or enthuse. I notice the locating of Jesus in history and physical pain. Yes, resurrection but mostly seen, are crosses and white robes. A weekend of consideration. Congregations peak.
Like Bach, the Cross, can seem antiquated and dated. Or present, and most relevant of all. All I know, think or feel.
And the humanity of God, historical, is now present – here as I type.
