Drugs and alcohol use is on the up.... and we all know where that goes?

The 'downs'... that aren't worth the artificial fuelling and tends overall to loss over gains. We can understand our drives around sex, sugar, and shopping, as mind-altering behaviours. Defining 'drugs,' do we include caffeine? Legal nootropics, state-prescribed meds., DMT... and how about alcohol vs. the rest?

Getting right to it, forty years, observing people with, and on 'drugs' and messing-up drunk m'self, can only conclude: If y'don't sniff, suck smoke, get pissed or drop pills? DON'T START. Please believe this isn't because of an expected You're-A-Christian... dah, 'course, I'd say this? No, it's with researched reason and first-hand testimonies to the fact.

How to balance or marry this with indisputable benefits and pleasures?

First, comes context. Times change, and so with the situations we're in. A spliff in the sunshine on a summer holiday, few beers, what have ya... how come the... "don't start"? We can achieve more and better, without, a walking stick.

Line em up who go that way, and celebrate their intoxication. All I can confess is getting a bit drunk during Van Morrisons' set, at Audley End, last weekend. First time in a couple or so years. Got away with it, and told Sax, who hadn't commented at the time. Got a check, from God/ and conscience, but... if, it's to happen and be sweet, not soar, it's on such a marvelous night.

Survey and you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who doubts the downs vs. ups equation is as-stated.

In Suffolk, the late 80s, there was one, 'drugs worker' for the county, (another, for 'alcohol'). Unmistakable who in the town, which pub, looks, turned on, and 'smack' (opiate), caught countess numbers in its jaw. Then came Social Care to the rescue? Ten years of front-line substance misuse/homeless work in central London, another lens to look out from.

Drugs don't work. Nor, does 'Social ...Care'(?).

What does?

Most associations and people known since the late 70s have been booze, cannabis, and on... takers. Can all get deep on meaning and satisfaction in life, the substance ish., / or, none (through poverty, inaccessibility, or choice), is a bunny hole. What isn't can only be imagined, what if, I... get (switch to artificial, stimulation or sedation), into, drugs or drinking? "But its real?" Yes, but overall. Get we can tip into excess on occasions and the habitual with ease. To not reckon so, is... well, dopey. If we aim to live in and/or among piss-heads and stoners, ...easy. Fair play, scoring goals.

Boring..., and not attractive, is why not take the fix.

How so?

As with Christianity: y'not know, 'till y'try?

Dependency on smoke or a sniff is perilous in the economic-supply-chain creaking world we're in.

Why not, is the question. Jordan Peterson notes it's a surprise more people aren't 'depressed', or 'drunkards'. Loss of hope pushes life into a last fag before the execution vibe. Down and trodden. Jesus and Paul got on it and surmised; we might as well, if..., no, hope?

They mean clouds and harps? Nah..., and sound theology has its, this earth (renewed), and new, bodies. Their hope was in Heaven, (realm/s), on earth/ here now, while... so far, and more to come.
