Convince People Not To Believe The News
Try find someone who chirps up they "believe the news"? Not sure anyone would answer affirmatively, yet... all but intentional abstainers watch and take the ride. Believe it/ish. The idea there's a 'political strategy' to attack and convince not to believe, as Mr. Robinson suggests below, is ludicrous.
'People' don't believe in the main. Yet, do. 'Say' they don't, while indulge along with the tricks. A combo of timidity to deconstruct and faith in the faces. Presenters look convinced so we identify along. Malleable to trust their confident convictions.
A magician is 'believed' but we know it's not what seems. Suspended we gawp. With the nightly TV news and daily papers etc., we waltz along in a comforting daze. Forget or not realise, time and again, scandalous m.media-led lies.
Movies work. So The News. Back to political strat. and a 'guerilla war being fought on social media'. So great... we have msm misjudging/reporting, about being misjudged/reported on?
All with a zippy buzz and snappy production. A cross between Reality TV and one those 9pm Drama's. Got style. Something to make us feel we're in touch. Like the surprise and tension, fuss and put-downs. We're "all in this together".
TV News is the broadcaster's pinnacle. Flag-ship, the term. Clearly documentary, our history unfolding. Our times. The 'real' news and not that so-supposed, dodgy, amateur net-based stuff.
No matter the agenda is a tight Govt. and establishment drum. No matter the beat that leads the preferred paths. With commissioning and choice of coverage, even more of a fix-up than how a 'story' is covered. The main gripe isn't the bias it's the refusal -- any which-way or time-for -- to even approach some too hot potato.
The so-called alternative media, is more often covering subjects and investigating, that which never makes it to the terrestrial box in the corner. Refusal to discuss, contend, address, disagree... Easier to ignore. Because as we know, some things are cat-among if dare to approach.
Well this is all good. The Guardian are guarding us. The BBC on protect and serve.
"Please oh please protest and get pissed about. Get angry and shout".
For 'this' is the news we need. One that hunts for BBC bullies.
Question is what to say or do when caught?
"Here's is the Six O'Clock News. The internet has been shut-down because they've been bullying us. A sanitised replacement has been rolled out and a license to watch will cost..."
OR... And...
Must.
Bullied BBC? Alternative media returns fire on claims it’s waging ‘war’ on the corporation -- posted by Gordon on Tap.
Writing for the Guardian, Robinson said criticism of the BBC is so persistent that it is affecting negatively public perceptions of the corporation and other mainstream media outlets.
“Our critics now see their attacks as a key part of their political strategy. In order to succeed, they need to convince people not to believe ‘the news,’” he wrote in the Guardian.
“Attacks on the media are no longer a lazy clap line delivered to a party conference to raise morale. They are part of a guerilla war being fought on social media, day after day and hour after hour.”
He claimed these alternatives include Wings over Scotland, which is pro-Independence; the New European, a pro-EU newspaper; the left-wing websites Novara Media, Skwawkbox, Evolve Politics and the Canary; and right-wing Breitbart rival Westmonster.
Drew Rose, Director of Operations at the Canary, said Robinson’s analogy that it is waging a war is apt but “it’s not the war he suggests.”
For years now, swathes of the population have been ignored or otherwise failed by the established media. We’re fighting to serve those people,” Rose said in a statement to RT.
“We’re doing that by helping to build a more diverse media operating outside the establishment. For us, ultimately, this is about democracy. And building informed consent, which democracy depends on, requires a healthy and diverse media that isn’t afraid to hold power to account.” MORE
